Dr. John W. Torchia
Dr. John W. Torchia graduated from Wake Forest University before completing his dental education at Fairleigh Dickenson University. He then completed residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at University of Connecticut. He has been in private practice of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery since 1984, achieving Board Certification in 1987. He is also certified by the National Dental Board of Anesthesiology.
Dr. Torchia is a past president of Massachusetts Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, Valley District Dental Society, Hampshire Dental Society and the Massachusetts Dental Society of Anesthesiology. He is also past vice chairman of the Massachusetts Dental Society Political Action Committee.
Dr. Torchia is a member of the medical staff at Mercy Medical Center and Noble Hospital. He was Chief of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Mercy Medical Center from 1996-2007.
In addition to private practice in his offices in West Springfield, Westfield, and Springfield, Dr. Torchia also provides oral surgery care to patients at the Holyoke Health Center. He teaches pediatric dental residents and dental students at the Health Center having faculty appointments as part time clinical instructor from Harvard School of Dental Medicine, Boston University School of Dental Medicine and Lutheran Medical Center.
Dr. Torchia’s outside interests include forestry management, hunting, fishing, woodworking and surfing. He is an enthusiastic outdoorsman and conservationist.
